I ended up getting a used steering linkage.. and also, a second hand exhaust. unfortunately, I found out the exhaust is bent, and simply will not fit on the truck, and in my attempts to straighten it, I made more dents in it I give up.

place it in a vice and use a rubber hammer to 'bend' it straight.. get some pics up.. it won't work. the middle of the pipe seems to be bent.. the flange can't even rest flat on the engine as the other end of the exhaust hits on the diff housing!!

I ended up cutting the exhaust, and joining it with car heater hose and clamps. it'll do. the servos are run off an 8amp BEC, thats powered by two 1500mah, 11.1v, 25c lipos connected in parallel. it all fits in the battery box, just however, the servos are just crap, I don't like them at all.

yea the HS seems slow and weak so what figures are they quoting? clearly they don't do the specified numbers. also, umm, I forgot... lol oh, maybe digital makes a huge difference.

they don't even manage to re-centre so, I might get some el-cheapo digital, metal geared servos from Hobby King

check the reviews on those, dont seem so good.. better just get a tuner for ya servos so they work together proply.. those reviews really don't say much at all though. most people don't like the MG996 standard size servos. I have 10 of them! if I was to buy the servos others suggested, I'd be $800 - $1200 out of pocket! compared to $140 for TEN of the cheap MG996's I'll keep looking. I originally thought my steering issues were due to bad batteries, but after converting to an 8amp BEC, and 3000mah worth of lipos suggests that this wasn't the case.

Can't drive with one hand, but thats alright, was good to take the big scale for a bit of a run, haven't used it much since I found brushless! www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5VsaWEGbV0

This is the lipo battery setup I came up with. its two 11.1v, 1500mah, 15c batteries in parallel, running an 8amp BEC set to 6volts, to run the dual Hitec HS-805BB servos for steering, and an MG996 servo for throttle and brakes. it all fits into the stock radio box, BEC is zip tied to the lid, rx is held with double sided tape. to be honest, these HS-805 servos are complete rubbish, and I should have saved my $110. I don't like them at all. but, we live and learn!
