I have been able to determine now that the engine was killing plugs very quickly due to overly rich settings, and those were the factory defaults of 1 and 3/4 turns out. I found a tip in Walbro carb manuals to start setup with 1 and 1/4 turns out for both screws and followed it for the stock FS carb. This immediately did away with the problems I had been struggling with for the past few days: power trailing off after some driving and engine eventually dying on idle, engine reluctant to rev under load while revving properly with wheels off the ground, and another (third) dead plug...

Wow! Thanks rcrallyfan that's some great info. They probably set the screws to "whatever's close" at the factory. It's good to have an idea for a good starting point so other people don't run too rich or even worse too lean! Checking a base setting for the carb should be included in the "Before you start" checklist. I was just going to check the needles and set them slightly richer than the carb on my FG to start. Glad you got it sorted out. Did you have to make some minor adjustments yet or was the 1 1/4 setting pretty spot-on?

I took my entire truck apart about 2 years ago and now I’m having difficulties trying to figure out the linkage and brake setup. I’m not sure how it’s suppose to go and I need some help! Please! Some pictures would probably help out best but anything at this point
