As we all know the standard filter on these engines works like a restrictor.. Here is a quick and cheap way to fix that! Used a plastic 'plug' used to plug pipes when disassembling car engines etc. The plastic is soft and will not crack, should withstand oil and gas too. The filter is what you use on a microphone in windy places etc. Can be found at any music shop at a very low price. I used the spacer between the standard filter and the carb as a washer to hold it in place and make it airtight. Rounded off the edges of the spacer to reduce flow resistance. Here is the result: Filters.. (15Eur for 5pcs) Might still put a 'box' around it (plastic bottle or beer can maybe :-) ) to protect it from dirt. Filter oil too of course! Let's say it's still under development.

Now that i put a better pic above, I guess you can see i removed the choke. Seemed to be a bad flow restriction.. I also shortened the screw for the throttle valve, it was almost 2mm too long, also for better flow. It's not visible on the pics, but I also replaced the c-clip on the throttle valve shaft with a small o-ring, to prevent dust getting in there and grinding the shaft & hole.

I just fitted a HPI BAJA airfilter. Bolted straight on. Heaps bigger than the stock one. Needed a little body trimming but fitted nice and car runs heaps better.
