Hi! Got my replacement engine yesterday, and it was supposed to be a CY. As usual I took it apart before starting, and I will post the pics here. -Never seen a three-bolt engine before, and from what i know CY's are 2-bolted, right? -All ports are terribly small, especially the transfers! -No engine mounts on the fan cover (upright and lay down position) After some basic porting: I widened the intake and exhaust ports, and did some basic enlargement of the transfers. Hope this will help it breath somewhat better, but the porting is still asthmatic compared to Zen's, 'real' CY's, FS etc. Does anybody have any clues to what engine this is??

Hmm, smartech it could be I guess.. I guess the reliabiity should be better, but i wonder about the power.. well, will see soon enough. Problem is that i have to do some adaptations befor it's properly mounted in the car.

Yes, that's what i figured! Smartech = Stihl? Saw pics of a Smartech that looked exactly the same. I bought the engine without starter, carb and silencer for abt 70EUR + shipping, but the problem was that the seller sold it as a CY. This engine can't perform as a CY with the small ports, and I specifically wanted a CY.. I'm not so pleased with the seller. Now the starter does not fit from the FS engine, and the engine mounts are missing on the fan cover.. I think they might fit if it was a CY engine, but the Smartech is a bit different. Seller: stores.ebay.de/RC-Ersatzteile_W0QQ_trksidZp284.m183QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DCRX%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D4asphaltcowboy: I think I saw you on some german forum about the CF too? Working at Conrad? I did not understand all, since my german is very bad..

Well, you see the porting I did already.. not sure he would take it back modified. I also sent him pics of the opened engine before porting, so he knows i opened it, but not that i ported it.. I guess i just have to bite the bullet on this one.. even if it pisses me off. Will have the new cylinder and piston for the FS engine soon, so I don't think I will bother to install this one now. Too many modifications to be made to fit the FS fan cover and starter, and make new engine mounts.
I ordered a Zen 260 piston today, will try that in a FS engine sooner or later. Maybe the one i get when the CF spare parts car arrive. Thinking I might just replace the washers with Zen ones when i rebuild the old FS engine

@ rallyfinnen : My english is also not so good ... Yes, the new Carson Engines are Chainsaw - Engines, they are cheaper as CY and Zenoah ... Everybody must save money in this unhappy times ... Perhaps, this engine is very specially, no parts from CY and Zenoah fit on it ... !!! This engine is also available as 26ccm from Carson ( green sticker on starter ) I´m not working by Conrad Electronics, Conrad blow off the RC Bigscale World with the cheapest Bigscale RTR Buggy who ever sold in the World ... This car is making by FS - Racing for Conrad. So all FS hopups fit on this car - also fit all Carbon Fighter hopups on FS car´s. Greetings Maik

Your english is definitely better than my german! Keep posting! :-) Yes, the CF from conrad is really cheap, I actually ordered one as a spare parts car :-) Adding it all the parts i need together it makes it a good deal (long shocks for the front, spare engine, 4wd kit etc) and all the extra spares like wheels etc. Do you also have some experience of blown engines on the CF? I'm trying to collect some pictures of blown engines here fsracing4wd.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=engine&action=display&thread=150&page=2Like CSI for blown FS engines :-)
