i've read in a few forums where the steering turn stops are either reduced or removed... as much as i'd love to do the same, i've not been game to, because it looks to me that it would be putting considerably more strain on the front drive shaft/cv/steering hub? has anyone done this, given their car a right long term flogging, and had any issues? cheers

i have removed mine and i think many others too, they just rub against the chassis on full turn..

hey hoppy take the things off they will eventually come off themselves and when you do you will certainly notice the difference its the first thing i did and on all the fs cars ive put together to so don't worry about it sweeeet... last run i realised to nick around a tight turn, the only way was to flick the tail out... so much nicer to be able to simply have a tighter turning circle ;D during this current reassembly i'll be doing just that- removing the stops... i dare to say i'll have to shave off some of the front impact bumper for the tires... thanks guys, i appreciate it!

I not only removed the steering stops, but also dremeled a bit off the front diff housing and inner rose joints on the steering rods, as that's where the next full turn limit occurs after removing the stops.

Hi wolfen try this for size its not my post its from a other forum but this will help you out Here’s a little mod to increase you’re turning ability. I found the stock setup is limited by two things. The angled rose joints hitting the limiting pins on the front hubs and the inner rose joints on the steering link touching the transmission case. I only needed to remove a fraction of material on the right hand side of the transmission case as the left didn’t have any clearance issues. I also used the sanding drum on my Dremal to scallop out a little more material on the angled rose joint so that it sits flush against the hub limiting pin at full lock as shown in the pic below. This made a significant difference to the way my car handled on my local tight and twisty race track. If you need even more on power steering then try some 100,000wt oil in the front diff leaving the rear diff with stock grease. This allows you to “kick out” the rear end for those tight hair pin corners but in doing so you will compromise a little off power steering.
